Proverb A Day – Day 20 by SGLY Ministry

Today’s Proverb: Don’t say “I will get even for this wrong.” Wait for the Lord to handle the matter. Proverbs 20:22 [NLT]

Today’s Thought:
If someone harms or harasses you, don’t try to get even,
just tell the Lord and let Him help you.
In this way you will glorify the Lord by being obedient to His word and you will also be reflecting His character to those around you.
For “With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
Psalm 108:13 (NIV)

Today’s Action: Wait on the Lord
Today: If I am wronged:

I will not seek vengeance
I will not hold a grudge
I will ask for the Lord’s help
I will wait for the Lord’s help
I will thank and praise the Lord for His help as I wait

I will do as Jesus said: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

God Will Deliver You
Today’s Scripture: "Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall honor and glorify Me." (Psalm 50:15, AMPC)

He Will Deliver You

Are you facing trouble in any area of your life today? God is standing ready to deliver you. He promises in His Word that He is near to all those who call upon His name. No matter what you may be going through, have confidence knowing that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. He promises to deliver you!

Notice that today's verse tells us that our part is to honor and glorify Him. In other words, you don't have to wait until everything is perfect to give Him praise. You can give Him honor and glory right now. You can thank Him for all He's done in your life so far and what He will do in your future.

Call on Him today and focus on having an attitude of faith and expectancy. Speak His Word and declare His promises over your life. Trust in Him because He will take you places you've never dreamed. As you praise Him, He'll deliver you and take you higher and higher into the good life He has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today: "Father, today I call upon Your name. I call upon You as my Salvation and my Deliverer. I trust that You are working on my behalf and choose to give You the glory, honor and praise in Jesus' name. Amen."

Joel Osteen

Running and Rest - Our Daily Bread Ministries

[Jesus] said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31

The headline caught my eye: “Rest Days Important for Runners.” In Tommy Manning’s article, the former member of the U.S. Mountain Running Team emphasized a principle that dedicated athletes sometimes ignore—the body needs time to rest and rebuild after exercise. “Physiologically, the adaptations that occur as a result of training only happen during rest,” Manning wrote. “This means rest is as important as workouts.”
The same is true in our walk of faith and service. Regular times of rest are essential to avoid burnout and discouragement. Jesus sought spiritual balance during His life on Earth, even in the face of great demands. When His disciples returned from a strenuous time of teaching and healing others, “He said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest’” (Mark 6:31). But a large crowd followed them, so Jesus taught them and fed them with only five loaves and two fish (vv. 32–44). When everyone was gone, Jesus “went up on a mountainside to pray” (v. 46).
Jesus invites us to regularly join Him in a quiet place to pray and get some rest.
If our lives are defined by work, then what we do becomes less and less effective. Jesus invites us to regularly join Him in a quiet place to pray and get some rest.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your example of prayer alone with Your Father. Give us wisdom and determination to make rest a priority as we follow You.

In our life of faith and service, rest is as important as work.

God’s Love Is Deep Enough BY RICK WARREN

“The Lord reached down from above and took hold of me; he pulled me out of the deep waters” (Psalm 18:16 TEV)

There are times when we all think, “I’m going under for the last time! I’m about to sink!” But no matter how deep you are, God’s love is deeper than your problem.
Corrie ten Boom and Betsy ten Boom were Christians who lived in the Netherlands during Word War II. They hid Jews in their home to protect them from the Nazis. When they were discovered, not only were the Jews taken to the concentration camp, but Corrie and Betsy were taken as well, and they spent the rest of the war there.
After watching one atrocity after another, Corrie told Betsy, “This place is the pit of Hell!” Betsy replied, “There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper.”
In the last few months, you may have hit bottom financially and thought, “I am going broke!” Or, maybe you’ve hit bottom emotionally, or your marriage has hit bottom, or you’re having health problems. You’re frustrated and can't help but think, “I’m going under.”
Where is God when you hit bottom? He’s right there underneath you. He is “your refuge, and his everlasting arms are under you” (Deuteronomy 33:27a NLT, second edition).
Drop into his arms of love. Let him catch you and support you when you have nowhere else to go.

Talk It Over: God's love is deep enough to handle anything. What pain or hurt or problem do you need to hand over to him today?
How should an eternal perspective — God's everlasting arms under you — change your attitude toward your problems?
What does it mean to surrender and let God support you?
