Denial
Our denial is protecting us, that's why it's so strong, we're using it to protect ourselves. At first this works, but after a while it becomes impossible. By lowering our protection we will see what we need to work on in order to recover. This requires that we trust that it's safe for us to do this. That we no longer need that protection and have faith in those who are showing us how they were able to recover by doing this. Our denial is failing us and we are ready to let it go but this is still very hard to do. I reached the point that the pain of not doing this became greater than the fear of not having that protection and it was from there I finally became willing to stop my denial. When I had done this I found I no longer needed it. What a relief to move beyond my denial and finally face myself as I'm.
