Default Teaching Through Forgiveness

TEACHING THROUGH FORGIVENESS

It is very hard to have a relationship with someone we can’t forgive. It is hard to even be around that person. We have probably experienced someone in our lives who was hard to forgive or who would not forgive us. However, we can’t be effective in our relationships when we don’t show forgiveness. In fact, we can’t effectively teach them about God’s word and love when we aren’t forgiving others as He forgives us. Rather than holding a grudge with someone over something they did, teach them about forgiveness by forgiving them.

SCRIPTURE:
Ephesians 4:32 “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (NLT)
ACTION STEPS:
1. List those you need to forgive.
2. Write out what you need to do.
3. Pray asking God to help you forgive them.
4. Go to them and show them love and forgiveness.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, people hurt us. Sometimes intentionally and other times unintentionally. Help us and give us the strength to forgive. Help us to continue to build our relationship with You and them by showing forgiveness. Help us to stay in Your word and share it with them so we can let them know our priority is not to hold a grudge but to show forgiveness and love as You show us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER: We can’t teach others about forgiveness when we aren’t showing forgiveness.

We can be a role model to others when we show forgiveness to them and share God’s word with them.

God wants us to forgive others just has He forgives us.

Love and forgiveness go hand in hand. We are to show love and forgiveness to others setting the example God wants us to set.

If we want to show love, we need to show forgiveness.

FOCUS:
Psalm 17:9 “Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.” (NLT)

When we choose to forgive, we show love and build relationships.
