Default Could It Happen To Me?

Could It Happen To Me?

Isaiah 40:28-31: “He gives strength to the weary… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” (vv.29 and 31).

High achieving, goal-oriented, capable, overly-conscientious people are candidates for burnout. Myron Rush, president of Management Training Systems and author of the book, Burnout, defines burnout as “the type of stress and emotional fatigue, frustration, and exhaustion that occurs when a series of (or combination of) events in a relationship, mission, way of life, or job fail to produce an expected result.”

Some of us who are positive our commitment to hard work will bring us what we desire are flabbergasted when we run out of energy, enthusiasm and faith. Defeatedly we ask: Is there any hope for renewal and recovery? “Yes!” says our Creator. “Though you stumble and fall, you will one day soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. Trust me. I will renew your lost strength.”

Lord, I’m too exhausted to feel.
An unbalanced lifestyle has eroded my inner being and threatened my relationships.
You can help restore what has been destroyed.
And I’m now asking for your help.

Joan C. Webb

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
