Default Showing Mercy

SHOWING MERCY

Mercy is a word that reminds us of God. He has shown mercy to people since the beginning of time. His acts of mercy on the people of Israel exemplify His love for them. His acts of mercy sending Jesus to die for us show His willingness to do whatever it takes for us so we can have a closer relationship with Him. His mercy is beyond our comprehension; however, He calls us to show mercy as well. When we show mercy to others as God has shown it to us, we can share the mercy of God with them.

SCRIPTURE: Micah 6:8 “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write what you know about God’s mercy.
2. List the ways you can show mercy to others.
3. Know part of God’s will for you is to show mercy.
4. Be deliberate today by showing mercy to others.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, we pray You will remind us to show mercy to others. You give us many examples of showing mercy in Your word. Remind us we are to live like Jesus by showing mercy to those who need help. We are to show mercy to those who we feel do us wrong. We are to show mercy to those who we don’t know. In order to show mercy to others, we need You in our lives. Help us today, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
As good stewards for God, we are to show mercy to others and point them to Jesus.

Matthew 5:7 “God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” (NLT)

Lamentations 3:22-23 “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (NLT)

James 2:13 “There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.” (NLT)

God wants us to show mercy to others just as He has shown mercy to us.

FOCUS: Hosea 6:6 “For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.” (NIV)
