Default In The LORD's House

In The LORD's House

"I only ask one thing from the LORD. This is what I want: let me live in the LORD's house all my life." Psalm 27:4

If we could have one wish, one desire, what would it be? The Psalmist had an answer to that question; an answer that would give him all the desires of his heart, because the answer encompassed it all. "Let me live in the LORD's house all my life." What better place would there be to live all the days of our lives? There is no request that the God of the Universe would rather grant than this one. His desire is for us to live with Him, to dwell with Him. There is no question that He will allow us to live with Him all our days. The real question is will we do so? The choice is ours to make. Will we abide with the Father who has opened His home to us? Or will we choose to live on our own, struggling to make those spiritual ends meet and never really succeeding? There really is no choice when it's put that way! Why would we wish to struggle and fail over and over just so that we could be independent of our Father? He has made a home for us, he longs for us to dwell with Him, His desire is to provide for us. He wishes us to thrive spiritually and He knows just how to accomplish that task in our lives, but first we must come to live with Him, making our home with Him. When we live in His presence daily, hourly, we will have all the guidance that we will need to see us through this life. We will have at our fingertips the advice of the Counselor of Counselors and the love of the Father of all Fathers. Surely, when we dwell in His house we will have it all; there will be nothing lacking from our lives. Let us, with the psalmist, pray this prayer and then remain faithful in that desire, never allowing the cares of this world to take His place in our heart, that we may dwell in the house of the Lord forever

Father, there is one thing that I desire above all others, let me live with you now and forever. Home is where the heart is and my heart is with you, oh Lord. Let it always be so. Amen
