Default Minimize Anger

MINIMIZE ANGER

Despite the situation, when someone gets angry around us we have choices. We can get angry with them which simply adds fuel to the fire. We can decide to argue with them and take another side which will also make things worse. We can talk about them to others which only continues to stir things up. The best choice to make when someone is angry is to remain calm and pray. When we are cool and collected when others are angry, God can help us keep their flames of wrath from spreading.

Proverbs 15:18 “A hot-tempered person starts fights; a cool-tempered person stops them.” (NLT)

Proverbs 15:18 “A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” ( KJV)

Dear Lord, we know it is easy to get stirred up when others are angry. We sometimes get defensive. We sometimes get emotional. We sometimes get motivated to stir things up even more. Remind us to remain calm. Remind us to focus on You. Remind us to have faith in You to help us calm the angry person. Show us what we can do to share Your love with those who get angry so we can help them have peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It is possible to minimize anger when we decide to remain calm when others get upset.

We can minimize anger when we allow God to work through us to control our own emotions so we don’t make things worse.

God wants us to show love and peace to others. Even those who are angry.

Let’s strive to be calm today despite what happens so we can set a godly example to others.

Finding ways to give praise or encouragement to those who are angry will help calm them down.

Proverbs 21:14 “A secret gift calms anger; a bribe under the table pacifies fury.” (NLT)

Proverbs 21:14 “A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.” (KJV)

Focus: Look for ways to stay calm and help other minimize their anger when things don’t go their way.
