To Be or Not to Be
To Be or Not to Be
There is something to be learned from bees. Each bee has a particular task important to the entire colony. The queen bee spends the day laying hundreds of eggs. The worker bees gather nectar that will be turned into honey. Other workers function as air conditioners, furiously beating their wings to keep the hive cool. Finally, there are soldier bees who guard the hive's entrance in order to protect the honey supply. They all work together for their common survival. God made bees to be just the way they are. Queens, workers, and soldiers always function as a team because of instinct. They have no choice. But what if God had given bees the power of choice? What if the queen bee could decide not to lay eggs, or the workers and soldiers decide not to do their jobs? The hive would die. God made each of us according to the plan he had for us. He gave us gifts and talents for the good of others and even for our own enjoyment. But what if we decided not to be the persons he made us to be; not to use the talents he gave us to use? What if we became unappreciative of our own gifts? How would that affect our families and communities? How would our own personal happiness be affected? Lord, I accept the talents you have given me, along with their obligations. May I never refuse to become what you have made me to be, nor forget that my gifts have been given not just for myself, but also for the sake of others. Focus Your Day
