Know That I Am God
Know That I Am God
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10 The word "still" in this text comes from the Hebrew word "raphah", which literally means to slacken: that is, to relax. Relax? How, we might ask, do we relax when the world around us is so stressful? When the world around us is whirling about, causing us stress and anxiety, God's message to us is simple: "Relax, I am in control." Knowing that God is in control of our situation and circumstances, that He has our best interests at heart, that He is our Father and will do everything in His power to "work all things" for our good, and that He is God: that's how we can relax. We don't have to fret with anxiety about what the future will bring: we can relax. So, next time your world begins to spin out of control, take a step back and read Psalm 46:10. Relax and know order will follow the chaos, because God is in control. Father, how we thank you for always being there for us! Thank you for what you have done for us in the past. Help us to remember that the future will be no different. May we always remember that you have our best interest at heart and all things will work out for our good. Help us to set aside the anxiety that comes so naturally to us and remember that you are in control of all aspects of our lives and that is a very good thing! Thank you, Father, for wanting us to rest during the storms of life, you are so good to us! Knowing you are God, we can relax. What a blessing! Amen Quiet Waters
