Default Grateful for awareness?

Good morning! I am Ann and I am an alcoholic. I am within my 1st year of sobriety and am approaching the anniversary of when I first came into AA last March (I had my last drink June 2018). I have been having horrific nightmares of how my life was a year ago. Vivid drinking dreams and of being passed out at 11 am in my backyard, among other "stunts" I pulled while drunk. The desire to drink has been lifted, thank you God, but I have been struggling to live life on life's terms without the "help" of any substances, ie pot, which is not legal in my state. I have a wonderful sponsor, homegroup and support system who encourage and love me, and I am beyond grateful for them. I am struggling to cope with these dreams and the fear they cause me. I am working on getting out of my head and being thankful for the awareness of my healthier life today vs the horrors of how things were when I was drinking. I am grateful for God's grace and the love of the group when I struggle to love myself. Thanks for this forum and all the work you do to keep it up and running. I try to stop in daily for the truly inspirational readings. Blessings to you.

Hi Ann, Congratulations on your upcoming year! It is not uncommom to have drunk dreams. Maybe it has to do with your anniversary coming up. Have you talked with your sponsor about them? If not, then I suggest doing so. Please keep coming and sharing with us.

Congratulations Ann, thanks for sharing. The fact that you are coming up on your 1 year is probably why you are having the dreams. They are often an indicator that our disease is ou to get us. As the saying goes, cunning, baffling and powerful. I have using dreams as you say it isn't all about alcohol, substitution didn't work for me. Dreams generally mean get back to meetings, talk to your sponsor, and do service. As they say, you can't keep it if you don't give it away.

They say it isn't so much what you see in the dream, but how you are feeling. Check out your feelings, perhaps there are some things you need to talk over with your sponsor.

Step 10 for me is not just morning and night, but all day long when I get into a situation that I feel like I can't handle. Step 10 is a maintenance Step to basics. You do no have to do Steps 4-9 to work this Step. This Step has been the tool that has helped me to maintain my sobriety.

I wish you love and peace, God bless.
