Default Confidence

Confidence

Full, loving friendship with God has little to do with being spiritually successful in our own eyes. Instead, it has everything to do with confidence in God's goodness in the midst of our frailties and failures.

What God wants from us is complete trust in him and a joyful acceptance of our human condition. He alone makes this possible for us. Giving complete trust to God is probably the most difficult thing asked of us, but if we say no, nothing else we do will ever substitute for our refusal.

Unwavering confidence in God is the most important gift for which we can ask, because our peace and oneness with God depend upon it. At some point in our lives, we realize this truth, for a time comes when we seem to stand before God powerless and with empty hands. At that moment, we come to know that his accepting love is all that matters. It is our confidence in God that enables us to find our primary meaning in his love rather than in our accomplishments.

Lord, I bring you today all of the confidence of which I am capable. I know this is the gift that you most want to receive from me. May my trust in you remain strong in the midst of my darkness and weakness.

Focus Your Day
