Default When Fear Comes

When Fear Comes

When I am afraid, I will trust in you. —Psalm 56:3 NIV

I have heard that there are 365 references in God’s Word to “fear not”—one for every day of the year. Fear not means to resist fear and not let it control your actions.

The only acceptable attitude God’s children can ever have toward fear is, “I will not fear.” If you let fear rule in your life, it will steal your peace and joy and prevent you from fulfilling your destiny.

Are you confident in God? Do you believe right now, no matter what comes against you, victory is yours through Christ? Form a habit of saying out loud several times a day, “I will not fear.” If you do, then it will be one of the first things coming out of your mouth when fear does come.

Power Thought: I will not fear. I trust You, Lord.

From the book the book Power Thoughts Devotional by Joyce Meyer.

Fear is a lack of faith. There are healthy fears, like not walking in front of a bus.

Had a lot of fears, working the Steps and sharing with others, allowed me to change that fear to faith.

Fear of thunder storms was an old tape and body memory from when our kitchen was struck by lightning when I was five.

Fear of bridges stemmed for another childhood memory, visiting elderly cousins who lived in an old house and you had to cross a bridge by foot, because it could not be driven over. You could see through the slats and it wiggled just a wee too much for me.

Fear of grates was another one, I always had a fear of falling through them. When I was young I got a sense of falling in my sleep. My mother told me that when I hit bottom and stopped falling, I was dead.

It is amazing how grounded and hidden are those fears. Faith in our God can heal and bring them to light to be healed.
