It's War
For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Gal 5:17) Christian, whatever you choose there is going to be opposition to keep you from doing what you want to do. You are at war. There is no middle ground. (see Mark 9:40) If you set your mind on the flesh, the desires of the Spirit of God will be against it. But if you set your mind on the Spirit, the desires of the flesh will be against you. Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. (1Pet 2:11) "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil." (Deu 30:15) Throughout the day we will have choices between trusting in Jesus- to find our rest in Him, or we will choose self determination. And God's love has provided for our failures and stumbling- we can change our mind and turn to Him again. Repentance is a wonderful provision available throughout the day. Let's pray. Lord Jesus, forgive me for opposing You by choosing my own way. Help me to look to You today, and to run to You when I don't know what to do- help me to trust You. Grant me the grace to deny my own self determination. Let me rest my soul in You. Amen. Today's very great and precious promise "Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." (Luk 12:32) We have God's Word on it.
