All of us will be tempted at some point in our recovery to be willing to turn our backs on being in recovery. This usually happens after we've been here for a while, and all of us will have to work through this so we'll be able to stay in recovery. Some of us won't be able to do this and we'll wind up going out on our own, and for some things will turn out just fine, but for most of us who have done this it has proven to be catastrophic when we have. None of us know for sure which way it's going to be for any one of us, but the one thing that we'll all know by now because we can see it all around us in recovery, is that no matter how screwed up any of us might think recovery is, it still works. and it keeps all of us from what is waiting for most of us if we decide to go out. We're either in recovery or not. There's no middle ground for any of us and we're all choosing to be in recovery when we're doing all the things that go into making recovery what it is, and are part of it. Some of us will be able to do this without the use of the fellowship of others, but for most of us we will find we need each other in order for us to be able to do this more than anything else. Once each of us realize this for ourselves, then we'll all see why all of us need to be here in recovery then the value of us being able to be here will go through the roof for all of us.
