The help we need with our problem is found in recovery and it's very personal to us, making it very hard for us to ignore it. All of us have experienced help before recovery that wasn't working for us. In recovery is something different. It's like going to the doctor's describing our symptoms when we're sick and having the doctor say I know exactly what's wrong because I've had the same thing, and I can tell you how I got through what you're going through. Immediately, we listen differently knowing he's gone through the same thing that we're going through, and knowing that he's going to tell us what worked for him to get over that. This is why we share our experience in recovery, to benefit others. By sharing it with them they can see that we've been where they are, and more importantly we can show them how we got through it, so they will know they can get through it as well, if they want to.
