Each and every day our problem takes someone out. We'll become more aware of this after we start our own recovery. It's never easy to watch when this happens but it goes on all the time, inside and outside of recovery. Because of now knowing how powerless we are over our problem, it is sometimes depressing to see it's destruction being carried out in the lives of others. Having a good dose of gratitude when this happens can offset this. No one really knows why some of us are here in recovery while others aren't here any more because of having the very same problem as we do. This much we do know that we can be truly thankful that we are not among those who don't get to recover.
