Before any of us even knew the names of our troubles we had already found a solution to them, one that enabled us to live with them. On our own and in a world where we knew others didn't understand us, because what they suggested never seemed right to us. We had found a way to cope with being the way we were. We were elated upon discovering a solution because it allowed us to be like others, even though we knew we were not like them, and to fit in. Still not quite sure of who we were, we went on with our life, and the solution we had found. Then the day comes when our solution doesn't work for us any more. We used to dread thinking about what we would do if that ever happened. We now know it is from those dark days that recovery can begin for some of us. We learn that it can actually solve those troubles that we now know the names to.
