Default Forgiveness

FORGIVENESS

So many times we wonder why we are so discouraged. So many times we wonder why we can’t figure out why we are feeling down and out. The reason may be hard to find because it is deeper than what is on the surface. It could be there is something buried deep inside of us we haven’t let go of. It could be a past hurt. It could be a wrong someone has done to us. It could be an issue with someone we haven’t mended. When we don’t forgive others, we are holding on that problem. We are keeping that in our minds and in our hearts. If we are discouraged and don’t know why, maybe we should see if there is someone in our lives we need to forgive and pray about it. Maybe there is someone we need to forgive so we can let go and have peace.

SCRIPTURE: Colossian 3:13 “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” (NLT)

Luke 6:37 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven.”(NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. List those who have hurt you in the past.
2. Write down what they have done.
3. Pray asking God to help you forgive them.
4. Go to them, forgive them and share God’s love with them.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, help us to know what is deep in our hearts. Show us anything we need to get rid of in our minds that is keeping us from doing Your will. Reveal to us anyone we need to forgive from the past or even in the present. Help us to get rid of this discouragement in our hearts by reaching out and forgiving those who have hurt us. We want to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Help us today, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
God calls us to forgive others as He has forgiven us.

When we store up bitterness in our hearts because we won’t forgive, we are going to live a discouraging life.

God can help us to know what is causing the discouragement in our lives and who we need to forgive.

When we refuse to forgive others, we are not being a godly example to them.

Forgiveness helps us heal just as much as it helps others know we care.
