From the Inside Out
From the Inside Out Read Matthew 23:1 through 24:51 James quickly pulled the trash bag out of the garbage can, tied it shut, and threw it in the back of the truck. Working for the parks department, he had been stung twice by the bees that swarmed around the trash cans in the picnic areas, looking for soda and sugary drinks. The next day Randy commented, “There aren’t as many bees today, are there?” James replied, “It always gets that way in the fall—less trash inside the can, less bees outside the can.” “Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean” (Matthew 23:26). A person’s relationship with God on the inside determines the quality of the person’s words and actions on the outside. If there is “trash” in one’s heart, the trash will show up on the outside. Christians should ask God to forgive their sinful thoughts and attitudes, and to replace them with thoughts and attitudes that please Him. When that happens, others will see the difference! Prayer Suggestion: Lord, fill me with Your love and peace today. Quicklook: Matthew 23:23–32

Can remember these special wooden ear rings I had in early recovery. I loved the way they looked. I loved they way they jangled. I liked how they made me feel. They were a surface feeling of goodness. They certainly didn't match the way I felt inside.
It was a great day in recovery when the inside matched the outside.
