Default Growing pains

Growing pains
"Practice these things. Devote your life to them."
1 Timothy 4:15 GWT

Why does change take so long? Well, first off because, we are slow learners. If it feels like you will just never ever understand what the heck Mr. Pythagoras has got to do with triangles, how much more will it take to change those nasty habits that stop you from growing. Don't panic though, The Bible is peppered with stories of God waiting patiently for people to change. For seconds, we've got to put our heads in reverse. The Good Book calls this, 'Taking off the old self, and putting on the new self' (Ephesians 4:22-23 NIV). We're all good at ditching our old threads once they look minging, well lets get good at ditching our minging attitudes and put on something with that fresh out of the box smell, like love, instead. Third reason change comes slow is pain. Remember how growing pains can ache good and proper - it's the same with change - 9 times out of ten, there's no gain without pain. Hard truth is it'll more than likely be the tough times that ship-shape you into someone better. Finally, practice makes perfect. You don't instantly run a four minute mile without years of practice - just like, you don't instantly become Christ-like without years of practicing his wise words. That's why Paul tells it like it is, 'practice these things. Devote your life to them.'

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
God says that each of us is worth loving.
