Default Be Still

BE STILL

As children, when we had quiet time in school it was really unbearable. We couldn’t talk. Sometimes we had to lay our heads down. We couldn’t move around or do anything. We had to be quiet. That was hard as a child and, for some, it continues to be hard as an adult. However, God calls us to be still. He wants us to be still so we can better focus on Him. In that stillness, we will hear His voice and better know how to do His will.

Psalm 46:10a ““Be still, and know that I am God!” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us today to be still and know that You are God. Help us to focus on You. Help us to seek Your face, Your will and Your comfort and love. As believers, we should long to be still and draw close to You. Remind us today to take time to be still, to focus and to put our hope and faith in You in all we do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we are still, God can move through us.

When we are focused on God and still, we will feel His presence.

Being still is about thinking only of God and putting all other distractions out of our heads.

When we want to draw close to God, we can focus on Him and His word.

When we are weary, we can be still and focus on God and He will give us rest.

Matthew 11:28 “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’” (NLT)

Focus: In the midst of it all, remember to be still and focus on God.

As my service sponsor said to me one time, "I don't care who your God is, as long as it is not you."

When we are not connected to our God and in active addiction, we are the god of our own life and that of others. If we put some one or thing in between ourselves and God and who He would have me be in today, then I am listening to my Lower Power, instead of my Higher Power.
