Default Decisions

Decisions

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. Acts 1:4 (NLT)

Have you ever been so caught up in your life that you forgot to ask for God’s opinion? I can’t even count the number of times that I’ve taken the reigns of my life into my own hands, with little or no regard for God’s good and perfect will for me. Sure, He was there and He was present, but was I living God’s best for me? Not hardly!

In Acts, Jesus commanded, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you . . .”

Hmmm. Did you catch that? Let me paraphrase – Don’t go ANYWHERE until God sends you. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get wrapped up in thinking, Okay, God, listen up. I’m going to go here and do this, and I’d really appreciate it if you could just bless me for it. Does that sound at all familiar to you?

My challenge to us is to live our lives in light of God’s calling, rather than in spite of God’s calling. Let’s remember to bring Him in to every life decision – whether small or large.

Jesus, thank you for granting me the free will to make choices for myself. Help me to consult you when I’m making decisions. Keep me in the center of your will.

Like this, it is so true. If you are in doubt and don't know, don't try to make it happen. If you do know, and you have your God with you, you will know.

Indecision, is should I or shouldn't I, and I end up shoulding all over the place.

I pray and ask, "..Thy Will be done." When I make the decision to turn my day over to my God each morning, I know He is there. I learned to listen and pay attention to the small things, waking up just before I get a phone call, walking downtown and walking with the lights and as a result, often seeing something or someone special in my life. Like in the mall, deciding to leave, go in the direction I am led, and meet up with a friend.

God is Good Orderly Direction to show me the Divine Orderly Good in my life.
