Way Too Much
Many of us, if we were honest with ourselves, would confess we have way too much. If we searched our closets, we would find clothes we never wear. If we searched our kitchen cabinets, we would find dishes we don't use and food we may never eat. If we looked in our garages or storage areas, we would find things we are saving but may never use. An abundance is good for us to have in case we run out, but when we have way too much it is probably time to give some of that excess away. SCRIPTURE: Luke 12:15 "Then he said to them, 'Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.'" (NLT) ACTION STEPS: 1. Write down what you have an excess of in your home. 2. List the things you could get rid of in life. 3. Ask God what He wants you to get rid of and give away. 4. As you share your material things with others, also share God's word. PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to see the difference between having an excess of material things that we never us and having an abundance of spiritual blessings we can share with others. Show us what things we need to get rid of so we can make more room for Your word, Your will and share Your love. We know we can get too focused on what we have and not want to get rid of it so we need Your help to throw off the things that hold us back from doing Your will. In Jesus' name. Amen. REMEMBER: The excess we have in our homes eventually becomes clutter but the abundance God can give us can be used to help others. We only really need the basics in life to live. Anything above that are blessings to share with others. Rather than striving for more material things in life, let's focus on God's blessings and spiritual gifts to share with others. God wants us to use our excess to share with those in need. The things we need an abundance of are the things God can give us that last for eternity. FOCUS: Jude 1:2 "Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance." (NLT) God wants us to have an abundance of His spiritual gifts and not an excess of material things. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_pu...log_id=6292380
