Been There, Done That
Been There, Done That
Read 1 Peter 4:12 through 5:14 It is nice to know that you are not alone. Whether you are a struggling young mother adjusting to life with a new baby, a middle-aged executive wondering if all the time and energy you devote to your career is worth it, or a retiree trying to make ends meet on a limited income, it is comforting to know that other people have faced the same issues and survived. Our Christian lives can undergo similar tough times. The apostle Peter not only told believers to firmly resist the devil; he also reminded them they were not alone in the struggle: “Your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings” (1 Peter 5:9). Our ability to stand firm in the faith is strengthened by the sheer fact other believers around the world are fighting the same battle. If we stand together, we will succeed. You may not ever meet him or her, but somewhere today, a fellow believer is also in the middle of a similar struggle. The next time you find it hard to stand firm in your faith, simply remember that you are not alone. Prayer Suggestion: Father, help me to resist the devil today, and give my fellow believers around the world the courage to stand firm today, as well. Quicklook:1 Peter 5:1–11 God's Word For Today
