Default Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

Read 2 Chronicles 14:1 through 17:19

It happens about this time each year. We decide to get rid of the stuff that accumulated in our storage areas over the winter. This ritual spawned a reality TV show. A crew of experts comes to guide people in their cleaning. The clutter is sorted in piles to “keep, sell, or trash.” It’s interesting to watch people struggle with letting go of some items.

Those helping have an advantage. Unlike the owners, they have no attachment to any of the stuff. It’s hard to clean our own garage. We can justify holding on to about everything.

Over time many things can happen that clutter our spiritual lives too. Stuff accumulates and requires a regular cleaning up. This was the condition of Israel when Asa became their king.

The nation had become like their ungodly neighbors. They were cluttered with idols and places to worship those heathen gods. The king declared it was time to have a good cleaning. All the stuff was removed and discarded. God was pleased and gave them a time of peace.

God will do the same for us. Removing the clutter from our lives makes room for God to do what He desires in our lives.

Challenge for Today: Will you invite the Holy Spirit to help with your spiritual spring cleaning?

We stay sober and clean together - one day at a time!
God says that each of us is worth loving.
