Topic of the Week - Words beginning with the letter "R"
R is for Rest. Rest and take a time out. Busy is an addiction, take time and rest in the arms of your Higher Power and allow Him/Her to nurture you, and give you the R & R you need daily.

Recovery is an inside job.
Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die. Don't let people or situations Rent space in your head. Do the next Right thing. My sponsor told me that it is important to take time out to rest, renew and restore yourself so that you can be able to be of better help to others.

R is for Review. Step 10 says we are to review our day and see what we did and what we can do better.
Step 4 is taking and inventory of our life as to who we are and where we have been and where we are going. We are asked to review what we find and look at what needs changing, what needs nurturing, and what needs to be deleted from our life. Review our anger, resentments, hurts, abandonment and rejection issues, and balance the negative with the positive that is there.

R is for React. Act instead of react. Just because I have a feeling, doesn't mean I have to act on it. We have a slogan here that says, "Hesitate and Meditate!" Pause to think before you react to people, places, and things. Don't take things personal and resist the old thoughts and patterns, so you don't have to act out in your dis-ease.

R is for Rely. Rely on your Higher Power. Rely on your program. Rely on the Steps, they are applicable to all areas of our life.
Remember when! Remember what it was like prior to recovery. Remember what it was like when you detoxed. Remember what it was like in early recovery. Remember, keep coming so you don't have to come back. Relapse is part of our disease, it is not a recovery tool. It can show you that it isn't any better out there, but instead of researching for yourself, keep your eyes on a newcomer and they will carry you a great message. Remember to pick up the phone, before you make the decision to go back out and play Russian Roulette with your life.

R is for Restless. Are you irritable, restless and discontent? It just might be your dis-ease calling to you. Perhaps a meeting is in order, or a visit to a hospital or detox, or come on line and share with others, do a 4th Step to bring things out of the darkness into the light, so the Light of Reason can shine.
