J is for Joy. If you are not enjoying your recovery, what are you doing wrong? Have you got a sponsor, a home group, a start on the Steps, have you quit drinking, but using other substance to replace the void.

This is a spiritual journey, and look for the joy, not just the negatives in your life. The drugs are but a symptom of our disease, the problem was always me.

J is for Justification. When you get honest and open-minded, you don't need to justify your existence. That is how I felt for many years because of old tapes. I thought I had to explain my actions and thoughts, and most times I felt unjustified for any kind of goodness in my life. It is okay to be me.

J is for Judge. Judge not lest you be judged. Who made me a leading authority on everything? It was time for me to stop playing 'god' with my life and that of others.
