Rest
I take time for rest and reflection.

Upon awakening, I meditate or say a prayer of thanks for the day ahead. Rested and replenished, I pledge to make the most of this beautiful day.

I know I have all I need for any situation. If stress surfaces, I take a moment to connect with God. Closing my eyes, I imagine a restful, beautiful scene. I embrace life and emerge re-energized.

I stop at points throughout the day to breathe deeply and savor God’s presence. In the evening, I recharge for tomorrow. I prepare for sleep just as I began the day—with meditation or prayer. I am grateful for the time I took to connect with God today.
He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.—Mark 6:31

I live this, it is how I live my life. I remember many year ago, hearing a woman say that she was grateful for a meditation group; because she didn't have time in her busy life for meditation. I had to take time for meditation or I wouldn't have a life.

I do have to admit to thinking, "How do you stay sober? That is why you are like you are. There is sober and there is sobriety." She was very hyper, controlling (it takes one to know one), and sometimes I found her to be abrasive. I did play bridge with her a few times. She had at least 10 more years in recovery than I did. That was my bad, as they say, "Let it begin with me." Me taking my inventory, not hers. When I am resting and reflecting, I need to remember that it is also a program of reflection, what I see in others is being mirrored from within me.
