DEAFENING TIMES
Deafening is when something or someone makes us unable to hear. Satan wants us only to hear the things of the world and attempts to deafen us from hearing God. What deafens us from hearing God? It doesn’t have to be just loud noise. It can be bad habits or people in our lives. These are deafening times where we are shutting out the voice of God in order to hear what we want to hear. Let’s refuse to be deafened by Satan and decide to turn to God by being still in His presence and getting back into His word.
Acts 7:51 “You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!” (NLT)
Dear Lord, please remove the things that deafen us from Your word. Please help us to focus on You and listen to only You. We want to fill our minds and hearts with Your word so we are ready to resist temptations when Satan attempts to deafen us from hearing You. Help us to help others also do focus only on listening to You and reading Your word so they are not deafened by the things of the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
These are deafening times where we are shutting out what is right by God’s standards and choosing to live our own way.
Satan wants us only to hear him and focus on the world so we are deafened from hearing God.
In order to hear God, we need to remove the obstacles around us that deafens us from listening to Him.
Let’s not to so stubborn in our ways that we become deaf to what God is calling us to do.
When we turn away from God, we will be deafened by the things of the world.
Matthew 13:15 “For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.” (NLT)
Focus: Rather than listen to the world and do what feels good, let’s listen to God who knows what is best for us.
