DEEP ROOTS

In order to truly focus on anything, we have to have deep roots. Deep roots are those that are so far down into something that they can’t be pulled up. It would take a lot to pull up those roots and keep them from continuing to grow. Think about weeds. When we pull them up, after about a week, they begin to sprout again. The roots are deep. We have some bad roots that are deep that can only be removed by God. He can remove our bad, deep roots and replace them with new ones that are good.

Matthew 13:21 “But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, remove our deep roots that keep us from doing Your will. Remove those deep roots that lead us to do wrong. Help us to remember to stay in Your word daily so our roots will become deeper and deeper in Your word and will keep us doing good rather than evil. Help us to grow in Your word so we will not fall away as soon as we have problems or are questioned about our love and faith in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

To grow deep roots, we can study God’s word, pray and follow His direction.

To grow deep roots, we can fellowship with other believers and share what God has done for us.

To grow deep roots, we can spend time with God every day and be still knowing He is God.

To grow deep roots, we can listen to godly teachers who God gives insight to and instruction.

If are roots for God are deep, we will be able to withstand anything.

Hosea 14:5 “I will be to Israel like a refreshing dew from heaven. Israel will blossom like the lily; it will send roots deep into the soil like the cedars in Lebanon.” (NLT)

Focus today: Decide today to allow God to strengthen your roots so they will be deep enough to withstand anything.

Need my life to be deep rooted in recovery, so that I have something from which to draw on in times of strife and life get's chaotic.

When I think of deep roots, I think of the old tapes, the old habits, patterns, and behaviours that were part of my life from way, way back, digging them up, uprooting them, so they don't creep into today. They are like weeds, they need to be pulled in order for today bears fruit and is able to recover.
