God Is Your Source of Joy by Joyce Meyer
This Week's Scripture: ...And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold. Nehemiah 8:10 AMP
People search for happiness in a lot of places. They look to things like relationships, money, vacations, houses, clothes, and even new opportunities. Yet these things can bring a degree of excitement only for a period of time because happiness is based on what is happening “in the moment.”
But Psalm 16:11(AMPC) says, You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. The Lord desires for us to live with His joy—to be permanently, consistently satisfied. This all comes from spending quality time with God...from reading and studying His Word, talking to Him in prayer, or simply sitting quietly in His presence.
Tip from Joyce: “My joy comes from my relationship with Jesus, so I choose to be happy and have rest in my soul no matter what I come against tomorrow. Whether it’s rainy or sunny, whether I get the job or not, I choose the joy of the Lord.” – Joyce Meyer
Study Suggestion: This week, focus on spending quality time with God. Read and study His Word and spend time in prayer—and watch your level of joy rise. Write down some of the things God speaks to your heart during this special time.
