PAY CLOSE ATTENTION

There is so much we can learn from others. God puts others in our paths to help us learn. We can learn from their experiences – both good and bad. We can learn from their wisdom. We can learn from their words. Those who have messages for us from God should be taken seriously and we should focus on what they say and what they write for they are carrying out their mission and purpose He has for them by sharing what He has laid on their hearts.

2 Peter 1:19 “Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we thank You for the wisdom You give to others. We thank You for the dedication they have and the faith they have in You. When they share what You have laid on their hearts, we know we are to listen and pay close attention to what they say. Help us to discern those who are wise from those who are worldly. Help us to focus on Your word through them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We should pay close attention to wise and godly people.

When we focus on what our godly leaders in this world have to say, we will find encouragement and strength.

Godly leaders are put on earth to help us better understand God’s word.

We should show gratitude to those godly leaders who are focused on teaching God’s word.

Let’s be sure we choose to listen to and focus on those who are godly rather than those who like to lie and gossip.

Proverbs 17:4 “Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander.” (NLT)

Focus today: Think about the godly people in your life and pay close attention to their words of wisdom from God.

Found it was important to listen to the words, but following them up by checking to see if they are followed up with action.

Many tell a good story, others know the words, others can quote, but do they take those words off the pages, out of their head, and apply them to their life.

It is one thing to know, but another thing to live them and walk your talk.

I learned to listen to the words, talk with my God, talk with my sponsor, talk it over to a close friend and or mentor, and look at the whole picture and look to see if the words work for me, or do I need to take them in part or reject them. They all made up the puzzle that allowed me to become whole, and live life clean and sober.
