WHEN WE FEEL WE CAN’T GO ON

There will be times when we feel we just can’t go on. We have lost a loved one. Someone has abandoned us. Others have mistreated us. Those times are hard. We don’t understand. We feel others don’t care or understand. But God cares and understands. He wants to comfort us and give us peace. He wants us to go to Him for strength so we can go on and live the life He has planned for us. When we feel we can’t go on and don’t know how to even pray to God, we can depend on Him to help us to know what to pray for.

Romans 8:26 “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we don’t understand why we have to have hard times. We don’t even know what to pray for when those hard times come because what we want is our old life back. However, You have a new life for us. You have new plans for us. You have something for us far greater than we could ever imagine. Please help us to get past the pain and give us strength to live the new life You have planned for us. Thank You, Lord, for the hard times and help us to know how to pray and trust in You during those times. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

If we will just go to God, He will help us with the right words to pray.

God wants us to go to Him even when we feel we can’t go on.

When we pray, God will hear us, answer us, encourage us and strengthen us.

Psalm 138:3 “As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.” (NLT)

God takes bad situations and turns them into something new for our lives.

Isaiah 66:9 “In the same way I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born,” says the LORD.” (NCV)

When I feel that way, I go to where I am led. Often to the site, my Bible, the Big Book, inspirational literature, and often just turning on the TV and I hear the message I need to hear, be it in word or song.

I found it best to say the Serenity Prayer, and follow it up with a request for guidance and direction. When it is a book, I just pause, open it to where it falls and read. One thing I did learn over the years, take the words off the page, the screen, the card, and any other form it takes and apply it to my life.
