Tent of Meeting
Read Numbers 28:1 through 29:40
Leroy, seven, enjoyed visiting his grandparents, who had a large back yard lawn that adjoined the woods. On one occasion the home was shared with an uncle and aunt who were preparing to be missionaries to Japan. One morning something was different in back yard. A dark brown tent had been set up under the trees. “Whose tent is that?” Leroy asked. “Can I play in it?” He was told that it was a place where his uncle, John, could read the Bible and pray in the morning.
The laws of Israel provided for a whole burnt offering in the morning and the evening (Numbers 28:3–5). It was a sacrifice that said, in essence, “Just like this small lamb we offer to you, Lord, we offer ourselves, morning, evening, and always, for Your service and glory.”
Meeting with the Lord daily, and moment by moment, builds our relationship with Him. Connection with Him is our life. We receive His Word, pour out our hearts in prayer, and move into our day linked to our Lord, who is our life. And when others notice the peace and the power of a life centered on God, we can help them enter into this life as well.
Prayer Suggestion: Lord, forgive me for attempting to live my life without You. You are my life. I live only in You.
