Decisions
Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. Acts 1:4 (NLT)
Have you ever been so caught up in your life that you forgot to ask for God’s opinion? I can’t even count the number of times that I’ve taken the reigns of my life into my own hands, with little or no regard for God’s good and perfect will for me. Sure, He was there and He was present, but was I living God’s best for me? Not hardly!
In Acts, Jesus commanded, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you . . .”
Hmmm. Did you catch that? Let me paraphrase – Don’t go ANYWHERE until God sends you. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get wrapped up in thinking, Okay, God, listen up. I’m going to go here and do this, and I’d really appreciate it if you could just bless me for it. Does that sound at all familiar to you?
My challenge to us is to live our lives in light of God’s calling, rather than in spite of God’s calling. Let’s remember to bring Him in to every life decision – whether small or large.
Jesus, thank you for granting me the free will to make choices for myself. Help me to consult you when I’m making decisions. Keep me in the center of your will.
