DAILY COMFORT
We all know when we get comfortable, we are relaxed and more ourselves. Usually at home, we have a comfortable chair we like to sit in. We may have clothes that feel just right when we put them on. We may even have comfort foods (or drinks) to help us feel better. Comfort is a great thing because it is a way we can escape from the hustle of the world and rest. However, there is a way we can truly find comfort in any place or situation. And that is in God. He promises us protection and comfort in His word. Let’s seek His comfort daily and truly rest in Him.
SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 23:4 “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” (NLT)
ACTION STEPS:
1. Write about where you go for comfort.
2. List the ways you deal with the stress of life.
3. Know God truly knows what you are dealing with.
4. Remember God cares about you and wants you to turn to Him for comfort.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we pray we don’t get too comfortable in this world because if we are comfortable in this world that means we are living without You. We have our favorite worldly things we believe give us comfort but it is only temporary. We know You are our only true Comforter. We praise You and thank You for the comfort You give to us. You are the only One who truly knows what we are dealing with and how to help us. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
REMEMBER:
God knows what we are dealing with and wants to give us true comfort.
Matthew 5:4 “God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (NLT)
We are to praise God for His compassion and comfort and seek ways to comfort others as He has comforted us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” (NIV)
If God loved you enough to die for you, he certainly loves you enough to feed you, lead you, and meet whatever need you have today. ~Pastor Rick Warren
FOCUS:
In John 10:14-15, Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me . . . I sacrifice my life for the sheep.” (NLT)
