“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
There is no doubt that in this fast paced world we can get so task and goal oriented that life can become mechanical, like a robot. How empty that kind of existence can be! The goal of the day: to survive. Do you ever feel like this? Do you feel like it is so hard to just settle your brain, your mind, and your body? Focus has been my struggle this week.
It seemed like a chore to settle my restless body and just sit and be still before God. Yet in that I could hear my God whisper, “It’s okay, I’m here in the midst of your busy mind, in the midst of the thousands of thoughts that run through your head. And I’m here to calm the storm. But first you need to take your mind off of the storm and focus on Me. Don’t be hopeless and overwhelmed! In Me there is hope. Come to Me and I will give you rest. Cast your burdens on Me, because I care for you. Talk to Me about those thoughts that are overwhelming to you and causing you to not sit and be still!!”
So in my room I paced the floor, talking to God, and then finally, naturally, I sat down before Him. When I shared my innermost thoughts and opened myself up to God, He made His way in somehow.
Sometimes I think Satan tries to overwhelm us. He does this in order to take our focus off of Jesus. Just as we make choices in our schedule, like the doctor’s appointment we have to keep, or that luncheon with our best friend that we can’t cancel. I am reminded to schedule my life around Jesus, instead of trying to fit Jesus in there somewhere. He should be the one divine appointment that we have to keep!

Matthew 6:33 - “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.”
Lord help us in our day to day lives to remember the purpose for our existence. To know that we can do nothing for your glory on our own. Help us to be still, to come and worship and talk to You so our relationship can grow and so that we can be all you created us to be. In your name, Amen!
