Serenity
I am calm and serene as I rest in an awareness of God.
What are some of the images that come to my mind when I think of serenity? Maybe a placid lake, gentle waves on the ocean, a striking sunset, or a comfortable easy chair.
I hold those pictures in mind now and breathe deeply. Through my imagination, I am transported to a place of peace, a place where I experience the calm stillness of my soul. I feel the presence of God in a profound and relaxing way. Peace fills my mind and body. I am calm and serene.
I rest now in this moment a little longer, consciously remembering this feeling so I can return to it at any time. The peace and serenity of God are always available to me.
I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone, O Lord, make me lie down in safety.—Psalm 4:8
