God's Word For Today
Thirsting for God
Read Isaiah 54:1 through 58:14
Water is even more vital than food—people can go much longer without eating than without drinking. Those who have suffered from dehydration, know people can’t live without water. Water is absolutely essential for life.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost” (Isaiah 55:1).
In this verse, the biblical theme of thirsting for God echoes like repeated themes in a musical piece, celebrating the blessings of those who “hunger and thirst after righteousness.” Just as physical water is essential to maintaining physical life, spiritual water is absolutely essential to maintaining spiritual life. Nothing short of the living water Jesus gives can truly quench a spiritual thirst and satisfy a soul.
Prayer Suggestion: Thank You, God, for reminding me that my soul thirsts for Your righteousness. May I never forget my need for You.
