KNOWING OTHERS
Getting to know others is an important part of life. When we get to know others and learn about what they like and don’t like, we can better connect with them. It is not something that always happens automatically. Sometimes it takes effort. We need to find out more about them by asking questions. We need to make a point to remember their names. We need to get to know them so we know how to specifically pray for them. God wants us to get to know His children so we can love, help and encourage them just as He has called us to do.
SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 10:24 “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” (NLT)
ACTION STEPS:
1. List people in your life you don’t know very well.
2. Write down when you will see them next and list a few questions to ask.
3. Pray for them and ask God to give you the right words to say.
4. Look for ways to continue to give them encouragement and share His word with them.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know there are people in our lives we don’t take time to get to know. Help us today to stop and spend some time with them. Show us the way to build relationships and not break them. We want to live with integrity so they know they can trust us. We want to find a way to help and encourage them. We want to take time with them to share Your word. Give us a greater awareness of these opportunities to get to know others and seek ways to help and encourage them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
REMEMBER:
The more we know about others around us, the better we can encourage and help them.
Getting to know more about others will help us know their needs and share God’s word with them.
We can purposefully take time to get to know others and find out what they need if we really want to.
There are people in our lives right now who need to hear God’s word and need an encouraging word. God wants us to reach out to them.
When we take time to really get to know people in our lives, God will show us how to help and encourage them.
FOCUS: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (NLT)
We should work every day on our relationships with others and strive to know more about them.
