KNOWLEDGE FROM OTHERS
From the time we get up until we go to bed, most of us are watching, reading or listening to something. We may watch the news. We may scroll through the social networks. We may listen to the radio or read a book. Whatever, we listen to or read, we are either gaining knowledge or garbage. It’s our choice what we choose to put into our minds. It’s our choice what we choose to believe. We need to remember God wants us to gain knowledge from Him through His word, through prayer and through other godly people. Whatever we put into our minds is what will be in our hearts and what will show through to others.
SCRIPTURE:
Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)
ACTION STEPS:
1. List the things you watch, listen to or read.
2. Write down if they are of the world or from God.
3. Ask God to help you focus more on Him and less in the world.
4. Be more mindful of what you read, watch and listen to beginning today.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we want to know You more than we know this world. Help us to learn from You rather than the media. Show us ways we can learn from other godly people rather than those who don’t know You. Remind us to read good books about You and stay in Your word so we are filling our minds with Your goodness. We want to gain the right knowledge so we can apply it to our lives and share it with others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
REMEMBER:
God’s will for us is good and pleasing and perfect. We will gain greater knowledge from Him than we will from this world.
Rather than the world teaching us, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to teach us.
Ephesians 4:23 “Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.” (NLT)
Whatever we put into our minds is what will be in our hearts and what will show through to others.
When we choose to put the things of God in our minds and thoughts, we will be more prepared in tough times.
FOCUS: Colossians 3:2 “Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” (NLT)
God’s knowledge is helpful and good for us. Let’s strive to learn from Him rather than the world.
