Default How do you handle unsolicited criticism?

Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. (NLT) Hebrews 10:36

How do you handle unsolicited criticism? Does your pride get hurt after you've done your best and still are scoffed at? How do you handle criticism from other Christians for doing the will of God? Yes, it's difficult. But you need to carry on with a patient endurance. This endurance you can surely draw from your faith to overcome any criticism.

Oh great question!! I've found that it is important for me to at least remain open enough to look at it, not just discount it... Then to go into prayer and ask God if it is something I need to own or toss. When I surrender my life completely to God; that He is my everything I know there are times He may lead me down a path that others may not understand. It is not important that they agree or understand..It is only important that I follow God's leading for my life.

The quote that impacted my life many years ago comes to my mind..."Stand up for what you believe in even if you stand alone"..I do not know the author of that quote however it has become ingrained within my heart in regards to the leadings & teachings of the Holy Spirit within me.

What comes to my mind in reading that quote is I am not alone. God is with me.

That is a very real part of it...and it goes along with the scripture in John 12: 42-43 "Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God."

It seems society in general put people up on pedestals and at times it is ok to have someone to look up to and admire and respect but for me my eyes and my heart must be on God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the 12 X 12 my favorite phrase that I placed in my spiritual tool box and use most often is the question.."WHAT WOULD THE MASTER DO?"

Good share BW. I might not like it, but try not to reject it in today, because I came to realize that my God puts people in my life to direct me in the way He would have me go.

A lot of criticism is dependent on how it is given and the attitude of the person who gives it. As they say, "Don't look at the messenger, listen to his/her words and actions." Do they be sound condescending, quarrelsome, loving and kind?

Love the quote. My sponsor told me, to clean up my side of the street, clean house, and make things right with your God.

Love the Bible verse too. I get what I need, sometimes it is a kick in the a$$, some times love and a hug, and sometimes, a rude awakening.

No matter if I am surrounded by negative energies, my God is the Light that leads and guides me. Sometimes that darkness just is and other times, I just find myself there. I can choose, but I can choose again. I remember the Al-Anon slogan, "Let it begin with me." It is about me, not the other person.
