Default The Four Agreements

Quote:
THE FOUR AGREEMENTS

DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and
do is a projection of their own reality, Their own dream.
When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others,
you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using
the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.
Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

DON'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you
really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can
to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just
this one agreement you can completely transform your life.

ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST
Your best is going to change from the moment to moment;
it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to when
you are sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best
and you will avoid self judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

My thought was "Walk your talk!" and "Don't assume, you make an a$$ out of you and me!" It took me a long time to accept that just because I made a mistake, I wasn't one. Just because I did something foolish, it didn't make me a fool even though my birthday was April 1st. NA says "All we are asked to do is try." For me, that means all I have to do is try to be the best me I can be in today. No more, no less, just be me.

For so many years I carried a false sense of guilt and responsibility because I was told it was my fault for other people's actions and decisions. Recovery is such a freeing gift.

A good reminder, always good to look at where you are at in today.

I like the second one. It is good to verify. "I heard you say, "...., is that what you meant to say." I took it to mean, "...., is that what you meant to portray." Are we on the same page? What am I not understanding?
