Default Hope of Freedom

Quote:
Luke 4:18
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,
Having problems with this. Someone who has money can be hurting just as much as someone who has no money, in fact, the person with no money can be much more happier than the rich person. The rich person is much blinder than the poor, they are much more accepting of their lot in life.

I am not saying, "Don't help the poor." Just don't talk down to them as though they are less than, circumstances brought them there,not just addiction and they are often the victims of other people's choices.

What comes to mind are the Slaves of the South, and through all their trials and tribulations, they maintained their faith.

When you walk with God, you can walk anywhere. When you leave Him behind, especially on a road for money and fame, you are the one who generally gets lost and tied up in a world of sin and greed.

May we walk in life so that others may see God in us. Do we carry the message of recovery? Do people see us and see hope?

Quote:
1 Chronicles 29:15
We are aliens and strangers in your sight, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never is, but always to be blessed:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
– Alexander Pope, An Essay on Man
