Personally, I look at ministers as channels, the same as an AA member getting up in front of the room, sharing their story. Some are and some are not and only speak in rote, and it comes from memory and the head instead , of the heart.

I found that I could take what the minister said and apply the program and got a much more spiritual message, which helped me. Going to church didn't keep me sober, it didn't keep me from becoming and addict/alcoholic, it was the spiritual principles of the program and the Steps/Traditions. that made the difference.
